Authentication & Remote Access
Access for your institution
The following authentication types are supported:
IP Authentication/Referring URL
Institutional users will navigate to this site from a subscribed facility, library, library IP proxy service or library website. These users will be automatically authenticated via IP address recognition or by referring URL.
Username/Password
Individual users will typically authenticate using a username and password. Users who access this site in this manner will initially see the Public Home page by default. Users will click the link to the login form where these users will explicitly enter their username and password to access the product. Upon successful log-in, the Authenticated Users' Home page will then be displayed to the user.
Athens and Shibboleth (implemented with OpenAthensSP)
Users who access this site in this manner will initially see the Public Home page by default. A login link will be included on the homepage that will take the user to a login form. This form will include an "Athens Login" link. When clicked, the "Athens Login" link will link out to an external Athens login page customized for the product. After successful (login or recognition) authentication on the external Athens page - the user will be returned to this site as an authenticated user. Exactly the same workflow will be used for Shibboleth.
